Melalui non security update bulan September 2023 kemarin, Microsoft mulai menghadirkan aplikasi Windows Backup untuk para pengguna Windows 10 dan Windows 11, aplikasi ini bahkan diinstall di system versi Enterprise.
Hal ini tentunya tidak disukai para IT Admin, karena kabarnya meskipun aplikasi ini terinstall secara otomatis, aplikasi Windows Backup ini tidak dapat berfungsi dan ketika dicoba dijalankan, aplikasa ini akan menampilkan pesan peringatan “This feature is not supported by your organization”.
Hal ini dapat terjadi karena Windows Backup tidak didesain untuk mendukung pengguna AAD atau Azure Active Directory seperti yang dijelaskan Microsoft berikut:
By design, Windows Backup is not supported for Azure Active Directory (AAD) or Active Directory (AD) users. If you try to run Windows Backup in this scenario, you will receive the error message “This feature is not supported by your organization.” Additionally, Windows Backup will not run if your MSA account is blocked by Group Policy. For more information about Windows Backup, see Backup and Restore in Windows.
Menjawab hal tersebut, Microsoft meyakinkan bahwa ketidaknyamanan ini akan dihilangkan pada update mendatang karena aplikasi Windows backup akan dihapus dari system.
Because Windows Backup is a system component, it cannot be removed. However, we will be releasing a future Windows Update that prevents Windows Backup from appearing on certain user interface (UI) screens for Azure Active Directory (AAD) or Active Directory (AD) users that run the Pro, Education, or Enterprise editions of Windows 10 or Windows 11. For example, after the future Windows update is installed, Windows Backup will not appear in the “All apps” or “Installed apps” lists.
Dihapusnya aplikasi Windows backup dari daftar All apps dan Installed apps ini hanya berlaku bagi para pengguna akun AAD saja ya, jadi dengan kata lain, aplikasi Windows Backup di Windows 10 atau 11 versi personal tetap tidak akan dapat dihapus.
